The Staff

After working 30 years as an Optometric Assistant, Leigh is enjoying semi-retirement, only working Wednesday through Friday most weeks. She has been with the practice since 1993 and has lived in Telkwa since 1970.

Lorelei has been with Bulkley Valley Eye Care since 1993 along with Leigh. Lorelei is our Administrative Assistant as well as our Refractive Surgery Co-Ordinator. Lorelei has worked part time since 1997.

Lorelei enjoys traveling, camping, skiiing, and snowmobiling with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys gardening and is involved with the Bulkley Valley Fall Fair.

Melissa joined our staff in October 2007.  She is currently part of our preliminary exam testing and front desk team. She completed the Buisness Technology Program with accounting from the NWCC in 2009. She looks forward to completing the Optometric Assistant course.

Melissa spent several years in Calgary and Houston before coming to the Bulkley Valley where she lives with her large family. She enjoys travelling, disc golf, reading, gold panning and more.

Donna

Sharon joined our professional team in the summer of 2009. She has 14 years experience in the optical field and has worked with Leigh and Lorelei in previous years. Sharon specializes in frame selection and has a very warm and friendly personality.

Sharon is married and a mother of 2 sons. Her favourite hobbies are spending time with her 7 grandchildren, working in her rock garden in the summer and scrapbooking.

Heather 

Katie has been with Bulkley Valley Eye Care since November of 2010.  She is currently a member of the dispensary team as well as being trained in the lab.  Katie completed an online Advanced Dispensing course in the spring of 2011.

Katie has lived in Smithers all her life and currently still lives with her family of five.  She enjoys snowmobiling and skiing during the winter and plans to continue further training in the lab and office.

Jaci is the newest member of our team, joining January of 2011.  She currently spends her days at BVEC doing front desk duties as well as preliminary testing.

Jaci was born and raised in Smithers and loves the breathtaking scenery of the Bulkley Valley. She spent many years doing gymnastics as well as track and field. She now enjoys spending her spare time playing soccer, volleyball, hockey, golfing and anything else that is thrown her way.  She also loves to spend her weekends hunting and fishing with her family. Carpe Diem!

Elisabeth joined BVEC in July 2007. She completed the Business Technology Program at NWCC 2003 and the Optometric Assistant course in 2011.

Elisabeth enjoys traveling, reading, snowboarding and the beautiful outdoors. having family in Germany, she has visited Germany a couple of times as well as some of the surrounding countries, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland.

Previously from Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver Island, Colleen has lived in Burns Lake since 2002.

Colleen is the Burns Lake Eye Care Pretesting Technician, Dispenser and Administrative Coordinator since we opened in 2004. Colleen has completed the Marco Technologies for Basic Orthoptic and Refractometry Techniques in Florida.

Colleen is married and a mother of four who enjoys camping, fishing and hockey.

Crystal joined Burns Lake Eye Care in 2010 as our part time front desk coordinator. She moved to Burns Lake 5 years ago and is currently enrolled in an accounting course.

Born and raised in Fort St. James, she also lived on the Queen Charlotte Islands for 10 years.  Crystal is the mother of two girls and enjoys reading and nature.
